Very little is known about Juma Gul. Analysis by The Rendition Project and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism has established that he was transferred into CIA custody at some point between 10 November 2002 and 4 December 2002. According to calculations published by the SSCI, he was held by the CIA for around 3 months (90-99 days). He is listed in the SSCI report as one of the 26 detainees “wrongfully detained” by the CIA, given that there was no evidence of him posing a “continuing, serious threat” to US interests. CIA records cited in the SSCI report document his release in 2003 with a payment in US dollars and another currency, although the exact amount remains classified.
Gul would have been transferred out of CIA custody at some point between 8 February 2003 and 13 March 2003. His fate and whereabouts after this point are unknown.
