According to CIA records cited in the SSCI report, Sayed Habib was one of two brothers held by the CIA on the basis of fabrications which emerged from the torture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed  (the other being Shaistah Khan). As such, he is listed in the SSCI report as one of the 26 detainees “wrongfully detained” by the CIA. Little is known about Habib’s time in CIA detention. Analysis by The Rendition Project and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism has established that he was transferred into CIA custody at some point 1-18 April 2003. He was one of a number of detainees held in solitary confinement at the CIA-run DETENTION SITE COBALT during 2003, and that he was held at the CIA-run DETENTION SITE ORANGE. Habib was released after more than 16 months (500-509 days) in CIA secret detention, at some point 13-31 August 2004. His release came with a cash payment.
